Since early 2020 life guided me through a healing journey that transformed me. Mook is one of the results of this journey...

Macrame is a technique that uses knots to create patterns. I like to think of it as transforming knots into infinite possibilities. This is a physical representation of how energy can also be transformed. We might have some knots in our lives preventing the flow of energy and authentic happiness, if we heal them our lives transform for good.

Last year I intended to reconnect with my inner child. One of my favorite activities as a kid was doing macrame braceletes, I remember being around 8 years old and spending hours immersed in this activity. So I tried it again as a hobby and remembered how happy it makes me feel. I've realized that the mindful repetitive movement of my hands while creating gives me peace and helps me release negative thoughts.

Through my healing journey I've been working on balancing my inner masculine and feminine energies. I think this project manifests it by allowing my inner feminine to be creative and empowering my inner masculine to take action. This empowerment, trust in myself, and following my intuition led me to quit my corporate job and follow my passion.

Macrame as we know it today comes from the Middle East, a culture with which I feel a strong bond since very young. Although the technique comes from that region, it is now widely used in the Caribbean, where I spent last winter magnetized to the turquoise water. The name Mook means knot in Mayan, as it was in that beautiful and powerful land that I got inspired to start the project.

The purpose of Mook is not only to create decorative pieces, but to explore and teach the technique of macrame as a meditative and healing practice. I believe it is a powerful tool to help us reconnect with ourselves, to listen our thoughts and release them in a tangible handmade piece infused with the intention of finding inner peace.
